- She retired after 43 years and The Kings Daughters are starting an endowment fund in her honor.

- Thalia Circle has retired
- Endowment fund is at $425,000 to date
- Volunteered 40,375 hours this past year
- Thrift store raised over $2.5 million for CHKD…think of them when you do spring cleaning
- Reva Stein has volunteered over 800 hours!
- Really nice event and we should try to have a table next year

- Annual Dinner is being worked on by Marilyn, Esther, Christie, Raylyn, Judy, Reva and JoAnne
- Jim White Fit N 30 Presentation – Mandy is currently working on this.
- Date is Wednesday, March 18th from 6-9PM
- Location – VB Central Library
- Jim White be presenting and will have sponsor items used for chance tickets, personal trainers and personal chef for questions.
- 250 room capacity at $10/ticket plus chance ticket sales
- Memories Cookbook- JoAnne is currently working in on this
- Collection of recipes that are memorable to our circle members. Personal recipes or ones that have been passed down through the generations
- Possibility of creating further cookbook volumes in the future for sale
- JoAnne is collecting recipes now. Bring them to next month’s meeting or email them to jalindholm@wgnttv.com
- Spa Day – Sharon Goldner to share at next month’s meeting
- Moe’s night – Allison is currently working on this
- Tuesday night – a percentage of sales on our specific Tuesday night will be donated to our circle. Easy charitable social event. Date to be announced.

Fire & Vine Gourmet Dinner Re-cap:

Our annual gourmet extravaganza was a huge success! The 2008 event was held at Fire and Vine in Hilltop and the evening opened with the musical talents of Steve Ambrose of the Original Rhondels and John Langlois MCed the evening’s events. The silent auction was wildly popular with over 40 items to bid on. The gourmet spread included a brick oven grilled meat station, a mash potato martini bar and the well appointed chef’s table including oysters. Everyone left with a gift certificate to Fire and Vine to return for more great eats.

Children’s Health Center and CHKD meeting on June 3rd

The Child Abuse Center has reached it’s $10 million endowment

CHKD has added 20 new beds bringing the total occupancy to 212 beds

Our circle is one of the top three donators of the Child Abuse Center and has been due to the involvement of our late member Phyllis Gilbert

CHKD is also a tobacco free facilty

FUTURE BUSINESS:

- Volunteer hours – hours donated to the hospital or to CHKD related events. CHKD has to have a certain amount of hours to maintain it’s non-profit status

- Fired Up for Kids! – Annual Dinner Fundraiser

- Total money raised – $7,863 Still waiting for additional checks totalling $390
- $5,000 will be donated to the Child Abuse Center and $2,500 will be put towards our Endowment Fund.
- Lessons learned from this event – Better microphone setup and written contract for all of our events
- Allison Kimnach will be sending a thank you letter to Brett and his team at Fire & Vine

- Overall, the night was a big success and we have all heard many compliments on our efforts on such an enjoyable evening!

- Run Walk for the Kids – June 14th 6:30-11:30AM 8K run, 2mile & 1mile walk
- Allison Kimnach, Mandy Berkowitz & Amy Goodove are planning on participating and starting a “Larkspur Meadows” Team. Help support CHKD as well as our circle by joining them for a 1 mile or 2 mile walk. Contact Mandy Berkowitz if you’re interested.
