October 2010 Meeting Minutes

1. Pre-meeting:
   1. Volunteer hours sheet-new this year, time spent at monthly meetings now count for volunteer hours
2. Welcome-
   1. Have everyone introduce themselves and tell us their favorite thing about fall?
   2. Read: KD Mission Statement:  The King’s Daughters, founding organization of the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, promotes superior pediatric wellness through dedicated volunteerism in partnership with Children’s Health System.

2. Treasurer’s Report- Mandy
   1. Dues- currently 15 dues paying/active members
3. Old business
   1. The King’s Daughters is always looking for extra hands around the hospital.  If you have time to donate, call the office at 668-7098.  These hours are kept by KD office separately from your Circle volunteer hours.
   2. Dinner Wrap Up:  went very well, raised $11, 120.79
   3. Endowment Pledge Letter-$7500 commitment which we made so our circle is now on the donor board in the lobby of CHKD
   4. RunWalk for the Kids Circle Challenge Results- 10 circle members participated
   5. Apricot Lane-over $150 donation received, despite weather good turnout, Amy Goodove will plan another shopping spree before the holidays this year
4. Current and New Business
   1. New Chairs Needed:

i.      In Kind (Sandy)

iii.      Projects Committee (Joanne)

iv.      Dinner (Reva, Joanne, and Judy)

v.      Moe’s Nights (Allison), new Moe’s nights to come on Tuesday nights

vi.      Music in Motion (Shaye) takes place March 5^th at Roper Center in Norfolk

vii.      Royal Chocolate (Reva) takes place week of Feb 3^rd , Feb meeting here

viii.      Shop from the Heart (a.k.a. Fantasy Shopping Night):  Sun 11.14.10 6:30-9:30

ix.      Holly Fest. of Trees Nov 18-20th

1. 1. Name Tags for Sale:  Deadline Nov 1.  $20. (Downtown Circle Event) now over
   2. Family Picnic at Chesapeake Campground Sat. Oct 2, 12-4P (Margaret Roper Moss Event)
   3. Circle Member, Laurie Glick’s Mom passed away, a donation on behalf of the circle will be made to CHKD in her memory
   4. Marilyn Kayer has many volunteer opportunities including Shop from the Heart and Holly Festival of Trees, contact her at mgk4719@aol.com for more information
