- Meeting Quote: You will find it easier to do a single, small piece of a large project than to start on the whole job. – Brian Tracy
- King’s Daughters Fun Fact: the King’s Daughters began in 1867 with $602.06 of “voluntary contributions” and hired a nurse, Miss Edith Nason who traveled on foot her first year and still managed to make 1,771 visits!

- Final Tally: Brought in $12,031/Profit $8,671
- Thank you notes – Contact Mandy if you need some sent to you.
- Donation in Burtons Grill name – We’ll present at the KD connect meeting next month.
- The event was a huge success! Silent auction and raffle tickets brought us in extra donations for the evening. Burton’s wait staff was very accommodating and the generosity of Burton’s with the gift certificates that we raffled off. Rodney Strong was very generous with the wine as well.
- Season Roberts from KD’s home office joined us for the evening with her husband and sent Mandy a very nice thank you letter!
- Next year’s dinner, we need to consider positioning the sound system a little bit better and will try a different restaurant possibly.
- Jim White Fit for Life:
- Raised over $1200!
- Read letter from VBPL
- This event was turn key in that Jim talked for free and the space was donated by the Central Library.
- Due to major budget cuts, The King’s Daughters is in need of extra hands around the hospital. If you have time to donate, call the office at 668-7098. These hours are kept by KD office separately from your Circle volunteer hours.
- Canisters – If interested, contact Elise Berkowitz. She’s already collected and sent a check for $72.01.
- Toiletry donations – as you are traveling this summer or hitting Target or Wal-Mart, think about picking up little travel size toiletries. We can donate these to the hospital to be given to adult guests who are there staying with their children and don’t get the opportunity to clean up at home.
- Wine and Dine Wrap up
- Projects Committee Report
- CHKD Thrift store Drive- We had a truck load (literally!) of goods to go to the CHKD Thrift Store in Larkspur Meadows Circle’s name. Sarah Breeden brought her empty SUV to the meeting we filled it up! She will be accepting donation bags until Sunday May 17th. Please leave them at her garage door with a note as to how many bags you donated if you are interested in receiving a donation receipt. You can email Sarah at sjbreeden@me.com or call her at 215-5681 if you have any questions.
- Memories Cookbook- time to get cooking on this project! Please type on an email your recipes and email to JoAnne Lindholm jalindholm@wgnttv.com. Feel free to add why this recipe means so much to you, who it reminds you of, or who gave it to you. We aren’t sure if all “stories” will make the book or if the publisher can handle extra content, but it might be nice to have some of this additional “flavor”. We would like to have this put together before the holidays so we can sell them at the Holly Ball and other holiday events!
- Re-usable Grocery Bags- Mandy and Beth working on this. Planning on printing “Go Green for the Kids” with the KD logo. They’ll be large bags and will try to sell for $3/piece.We will sell at other KD events throughout the year!
