December Meeting Minutes

· WELCOME
o Everyone introduced themselves and told their favorite or most recent vacation spot
o KD Mission Statement: The King’s Daughters, founding organization of the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, promotes superior pediatric wellness through dedicated volunteerism in partnership with Children’s Health System.
o Meeting Quote: “Make happy those who are near, and those who are far will come.” ~Chinese proverb
o Kings Daughters Fun Fact: The 1st King’s Daughter Circle was organized in Norfolk, in 1886 by Mrs. Eliza O. Scott and that Circle, Circle of Service, remains active today.
o Past fun fact: There are 2 circles that are over 120 years old: Wayside Circle and Circle of Service.
o Last month’s minutes approved
o Treasurer’s Report- $2,027.68
· OLD BUSINESS
o Fantasy Shopping Night

o Holly Festival of Trees Luncheon: Marilyn Kayer, Elise Berkowitz, Mandy Berkowitz, Suzy Feldman, and JoAnne Lindholm attended
§ Wonderful luncheon and fashion show. Should all try to go next year.

· NEW BUSINESS
o Legislative letters: Please see the email from Season Roberts from the King’s Daughters office about Medicaid payments. If you ar in agreement with them, please put your Senator/Delegate’s name in the greeting and your name at the bottom. Be sure to print some out with our spouse’s/neighbors name and aske they to send if they agree as well.

· Going to send out an email in January for the committee to meet at the library and see the space, talk to library about audio/video needs, see if they have any tables we can use for any exhibitors that Jim wants to have there and if we can have some very small food items.

o Bring an item for the Palliative Care Program at CHKD?
§ As the Palliative Care Program continues its work to make the last days and hours of a child’s life comfortable, we ask for your help in this effort. We are still in need of several of the new comfort items to make our palliative care cart complete. Items needed are:
Snacks (cookies, crackers, chips), CD player/Radio, Tea bags and hot chocolate, Puzzle books, reading material, Throws for parents, Aromatherapy, Neck pillows, Soft pillows, Travel size lotions, DVD’s, CD’s for music/relaxation
