OLD BUSINESS:

• Fire & Vine Gourmet Dinner Re-cap: 
  • Our annual gourmet extravaganza was a huge success! The 2008 event was held at Fire and Vine in Hilltop and the evening opened with the musical talents of Steve Ambrose of the Original Rhondels and John Langlois MCed the evening’s events.  The silent auction was wildly popular with over 40 items to bid on. The gourmet spread included a brick oven grilled meat station, a mash potato martini bar and the well appointed chef’s table including oysters. Everyone left with a gift certificate to Fire and Vine to return for more great eats.
  • Funds raised at last year’s dinner/annually.     
    • $5000 to Child Abuse Program
    • $2500 to Kings Daughters Endowment Program
• Let’s Make A Scarecrow:  Saturday October 11^th at 10:30A at the Independence Mc Donald Garden

  • Mandy Berkowitz’s company The Image Marketing Group has signed up for the event. Christie Marscheider and family and JoAnne Lindholm are joining her. Any other members are welcome to come.

NEW BUSINESS:

• Tom and Beth Duke Fund for Patient Care Endowment
  • Beth Duke has been the Sr. Vice President of Community Relations and is known for building many bridges in the community for CHKD fundraising efforts
    • She is retiring after 43 years and The Kings Daughters are starting an endowment fund in her honor.
    • Presenting the endowment fund at the Annual Recognition  Banquet on October 7th
    • Our circle voted on donating $500 to this endowment fund
• Project’s Chair commitee was formed
  • Marilyn Kayer to chair
  • Stephanie Banks, Sam Gordon, JoAnne Lindholm and Sharon Goldner are commitee heads
  • Possible project – Jim White to donate time for a nutritional/exercise talk and we would sell tickets as a fundraiser

• We are officially Kings Daughters, not Norfolk City Union of The Kings Daughters
• Allison Kimnach and I attended the Circle Leaders and Treasurer’s orientation on Sept 16^th

•  Partners for Kids brochures and membership directories were handed out
